Mycroft Mind Hosts Participants of the Artificial Intelligence on Chip Workshop

At the beginning of April, Mycroft Mind, a member of the TTC Group, welcomed participants of the international workshop Artificial Intelligence on Chip organized by CyberSecuirtyHub CZ, which is a part of the activities realized by the Advanced Chip Design Research Center (ACDRC). This centre was established with the goal to support collaboration in semiconductor research and education between the Czech Republic and Taiwan.

The two-day workshop brought together experts from both industry and academia and focused on current topics within the field of AI and chip design – from security embedded systems through AI-driven chip design to the practical usage of AI in energy and industry.

The program also included a visit to Mycroft Mind, where Jan Remeš delivered a presentation titled:
„Semiconductors at the Grid Edge: Case Studies in PV Forecasting and Smart Meter Intelligence“.

He introduced concrete examples of embedded AI in energy systems and demonstrated how advanced algorithms can be effectively combined with the limitations of real hardware. In the “SkyEye” case study, he showcased the accurate forecasts of photovoltaic production based on sky image analysis, using accelerated ConyLSTM models for data processing directly on edge devices.

Another example, “Consumption Predictor”, demonstrated how intelligence can be brought into smart meters through incremental learning and optimized mathematical models designed for environments with limited memory and computing power.

The presentation also emphasised that AI effectiveness in industrial applications is not only about large language models, but primarily about the possibility of designing energy-saving and tailored solutions to specific conditions.

The workshop was an inspiring opportunity for sharing knowledge and connect research with practice.
